About the role
We are seeking an Estates Fabric Engineer to join our Estates team at our Liverpool site.
The role is responsible for undertaking planned and reactive maintenance, minor repairs and project works across the National Oceanography Centre estate, helping to ensure our buildings and facilities remain safe, compliant and fit for purpose.
Working within a customer-focused environment, you will carry out a wide range of fabric maintenance tasks including repairs to doors, windows, locks, furniture, shelving, flooring, blinds and general building finishes. You will also support minor refurbishment projects and assist the wider Estates team in maintaining the high standards expected within a research and operational environment.
A key aspect of the role is supporting the Estates team's compliance activities, helping to ensure that buildings remain safe, compliant and fit for purpose. Duties will include but not limited to, undertaking water hygiene tasks such as temperature monitoring, outlet flushing and record keeping, carrying out routine fire door inspections, identifying defects and supporting remedial works, together with other compliance-related checks across the estate. The successful candidate will play an important role in maintaining statutory compliance and supporting a safe environment for staff, students, visitors and contractors.
The successful candidate will work in accordance with defined procedures and Health & Safety requirements while contributing to a proactive and responsive maintenance service.
About you
We are looking for someone who is reliable, trustworthy and enjoys working as part of a team, whilst also being capable of working independently and using their initiative to resolve issues.
You will have practical experience of carrying out general building fabric maintenance and repairs, together with good problem-solving skills and a hands-on approach to work. Experience of undertaking repairs to doors, windows, blinds, shelving, furniture and other building fabric elements would be highly desirable.
You should be well organised, possess good time-management skills and be capable of planning and prioritising workloads to ensure customer satisfaction and compliance requirements are met.
A positive attitude, flexibility and a commitment to providing excellent customer service are essential.

Location
This position will be based in Liverpool. The centre is part of the University campus and is only a short walk from the city centre and Lime Street station.
